The life, poetry, songs and drawings of Stevie Smith--whose 'Not Waving But Drowning' remains one of the nation's favourite poems according to the BBC--will be celebrated by fellow poet (and WEL Books stalwart) John Horder, who interviewed Smith for radio, press and TV, plus Cicely Herbert, Dinah Livingstone, Alan Morrison, Frances Spalding, the author of Smith's official biography; they will be joined by Piers Plowright, who will chair the event.
The action takes place on 8th September, 7.30pm, at the Upper Room, Magdala Pub, South End Green (opposite Hampstead Heath overground) and we are reliably informed that space is limited: so come early. The cost is £8.50/£7 concessions.
