Action! The Italian Film Festival 2010

Tired of shabby rom-coms, cheap chick flicks, cgi and other yawn-inducing genres that usually signal the classic lots-of-'stars'-but-little-plot-scenario, then do you and your senses a favour and put the Italian Cinema London Festival in your diary.

Running between 16-25 April at the Riverside Studio, the Festival brings together the great and the good of Italian cinema past, present and future.

As well as acknowledged masterpieces such as La Dolce Vita (celebrating its 50th aniversary this year), the Festival also showcases shorts, documentaries and some real photographic gems in an exhibition running alongside at the Riverside. Among the riches will be portraits by Sergio Strizzi, one of the country's greatest stills-men, taken from his family's private collection and enjoying their first ever London showing.
